WORLD CHAMPION – SURFING

Learning to surf at 5 years old, Garcia entered surf contests from his early teen years, and often borrowed whatever boards he could, He liked the longer boards because he could catch more waves. On the 7’0″boards, Garcia learned how to turn, how to hold an edge and how to keep the board on edge.

Fueled with a passion for surfing, Garcia debuted in professional surfing at age 16, and finished in the 17th position the following year. By 1990, he was in the top 10 rankings. He holds 6 Triple Crown championships – 1992, 1993, 1994, 1999, 2000 and 2004. Amongst his many surfing achievements, he was named as the 2000 ASP WCT World Champion.

Garcia holds the record for the most WQS event with 22 wins, and the most Triple Crown titles that any other surfer in history – he is the most victorious surfer in Hawaii. Garcia is also one of surfing’s most photographed and filmed surfers, with appearances in more than 75 surf movies and videos.
